The textures were applied to a shaped object (actually for this case, several
shaped objects). I didn't detail it in LWPro, but it had 5 or 6 tear drop
shaped objects, each with a similar animated texture for transparency and
color, but also animated displacement mapping was applied to each tear drop
individually to create a non-uniform flickering/pulsing behavior. However,
applying these types of textures to flat polygons can work as well. In my
furnace image, the flames behind the grate are simply a texture mapped
flat polygon. But for the torch, I wanted something viewable from all angles.

Its possible that it got included on the LWPro disk for that issue, but
I don't recall. But if it didn't, then there is no other place that would
have it (other than myself ofcourse ;-)
